If possible, all windows should call wxWindow::Create() on creation now,
because among other things:
- It manages generic and non-generic windows uniformly and transparently
- It ensures an appropriate initial size for the window
- AddChild() and PostCreation() are automatically called
- Scrollbar policies are set in one place.
There is no longer a QtGetContainer() function name. wxQtEventForwarder was renamed
to wxQtEventSignalHandler. And QtGetScrollBarContainer() was just removed in previous
commits.
Because It is simpler to initialize (the inherited) m_qtContainer member
directly in derived classes during construction process, and make the API
a little bit cleaner.
Neither QListWidget nor QTextEdit derive from QScrollArea and the cast to it is
just UB. Instead, using the common base class QAbstractScrollArea is safer and
eliminates the need to these dangerous and insidious crosscast'ings.
The problem was: wxClientDC draws in a QPicture owned by the DC. In the destructor,
QtPictureSetter sets the picture to be used by the associated window and generates
a paint event, then resets the picture when it goes out of scope before the paint handler
has a chance to replay the image. In this commit, this setup is changed so that window
owns the picture instead and is responsible for deleting it when it is actually used.
QtSet{Min,Max}Size() were added for use by Set{Min,Max}Size() and
DoSetSizeHints() overrides. and since we have canceled overriding
Set{Min,Max}Size() in previous commit, there is no need to keep them
around without good reason.
This partially reverts commit 3c68696 (Make wxTopLevelWindow::SetSizeHints()
work in wxQt) because it breaks some wxSizer tests. and more importantly, it
breaks the documented behaviour of SetMinSize() which says:
Notice that calling this method doesn't prevent the program from making the
window explicitly smaller than the specified size by calling SetSize(), it just
ensures that it won't become smaller than this size during the automatic layout.
Override Set{Min,Max}Size and DoSetSizeHints() to pass size information
to Qt: setting min/max widget size at the wxWidgets level is not enough
to take effect unless the information is also set at the Qt level.
Closes#23917.
This is a combination of running clang-tidy with modernize-use-nullptr
check for some ports (GTK, X11, OSX) and manual changes to the ports for
which it couldn't be used easily (MSW, DFB) and also manually updating
the docs.
Also replace NULL with null or nullptr in the comments as this is more
consistent with the use of nullptr in the code and makes it simpler to
grep for the remaining occurrences of NULL itself.
And also use null in the assert messages.
Only a few occurrences of "NULL" are still left in non-C files, mostly
corresponding to unclear comments or string output which it might not be
safe to change.
Apply the utility from https://github.com/codespell-project/codespell/
to fix spelling issues in the headers under both include and interface
directories and add a file with a couple of exceptions.
The exact command line used was:
$ codespell -w -I misc/scripts/codespell.ignore -i 3 in*
The original drawing mechanism was generating lots of QWarning messages
when running samples (e.g. htlbox, caret, etc.) and in some cases was
not actually completely drawing every element of the sample. The issue
was that the QPicture was being shared incorrectly between wxWindow and
wxClientDC and attempts to start painting, update, etc. were generating
console warnings.

Update the actual tool tip used by Qt and not just the internal variable
when SetTip() is called.
Also implement wxToolTip::SetWindow().
Closes https://github.com/wxWidgets/wxWidgets/pull/1175
Use QScrollbar directly instead of wxScrollbar for the window scrollbars
to ensure that wxWindow::GetChildren() doesn't return these scrollbars.
Closes https://github.com/wxWidgets/wxWidgets/pull/1124
Move declaration of wxOwnerDrawnBase::ms_defaultMargin to correct file.
Do not include headers when wxUSE_UIACTIONSIMULATOR is disabled.
Add guards for wxUSE_DRAG_AND_DROP.
Use a different wxFont constructor in printing sample, which is also available in WXQT.
This fixes a missing include in qt/nonownedwnd.cpp and a missing method
in qt/glcanvas.cpp, allowing the build to complete again. A number of
missing wxOVERRIDE statements were added to reduce the important number of
compiler warnings about those missing labels.
There are no longer any qt headers included in wx/qt headers.
Applications do not need to link with qt librarys anymore, only wxqt libraries.
wxWindow and derived widgets only contain one pointer to their qtwidget, no longer
carrying both base and derived pointers in parallel as was before.
Commit history was lost in the git to svn merge for trunk, so this reflect work done in two GSOC projects and/or by several authors.
Lines changed by each user was the main metric used to ack major contributions.

This merges in the latest sources from GSoC 2014 wxQt project with just a few
minor corrections, mostly undoing wrong changes to common files in that branch
(results of a previous bad merge?) and getting rid of whitespace-only changes.
Also remove debug logging from wxGrid.
