This fixes warnings about MAC_OS_X_VERSION_11_0 not being defined when
using older SDKs, as 21da0e128d (Change wxRendererNative to use
NSCell-based methods under Mac, 2023-11-12) used a wrong name for the
version constant: since macOS 11 these constants don't use "X" in their
names any longer.
Remove this and add a comment to the place where we define them to
document this not quite obvious naming convention.
This architecture doesn't exist and is not supported since a very long
time, so stop testing for it and defining __ALPHA__ which was never used
anyhow.
It may still be supported for wxGTK, but we don't need to do anything
special for it, so we don't need to define __POWERPC__, which was never
used anyhow, neither.
This port hasn't been updated for ages and is not used by anybody any
longer, so remove its code to facilitate maintenance.
Also remove references to this port from the documentation and most of
the other places (VMS-specific descrip.vms files still check for it
because it's not clear how to update them all), including configure.
Regenerate the latter and rebake all makefiles.
Finally document that this port is not available any longer.
This is always 0 for any still supported compiler, so remove the option
and configure checks for it.
Still define it as 0 for compatibility, just in case it's used outside
of the library.
Dl_info requires __GNU_VISIBLE be defined; and,
pthread_setconcurrency requires __XSI_VISIBLE >= 500.
Defining _GNU_SOURCE satifies both of the above needs.
In order to allow inclusion of configure determined flags via a wx/setup.h include also for xcode builds, the include has to move into the setup0.h template
Due to a bug in MinGW (see https://sourceforge.net/p/mingw/bugs/2322/),
_stricmp() and _strnicmp() declarations are not visible when compiling without
optimizations. Work around this by declaring them ourselves.
See #17762.
Cocoa has been the default toolkit in wxWidgets for a long time. There is really no good reason to use Carbon in 2016 and this removes a lot of unused and unmaintained code.
Windows CE doesn't seem to be supported by Microsoft any longer. Last CE
release was in early 2013 and the PocketPC and Smartphone targets supported by
wxWidgets are long gone.
The build files where already removed in an earlier cleanup this commit
removes all files, every #ifdef and all documentation regarding the Windows CE
support.
Closes https://github.com/wxWidgets/wxWidgets/pull/81
These options enable "strict ANSI" mode in MinGW which omits declarations of
POSIX functions from the standard headers. To allow the library and, possibly
even more importantly, the user code including our headers, to compile with
these options, declare the functions that we need ourselves.
This might appear to go against the spirit of "strict ANSI" mode, but the only
alternative would be to not use such functions at all and silently cripple the
library when -std=c++NN is used, compared to -std=g++NN case, and this doesn't
seem appealing neither.
Closes#16984.
Get rid of the rest of __WXCOCOA__ tests in the sources.
Drop configure option for using it.
Also remove the documentation for this port.
This should have also been part of r76735.

This compiler is not being developed since several years and almost certainly
can't be used to build the current wxWidgets sources anyhow, so remove all
support for it, including a lot of extremely ugly workarounds for its bugs
with template functions.

This port is not used and is not being worked on, so remove it to reduce the
amount of the code which needs to be updated for every global change.
Also remove tests for VisualAge compiler which isn't used since ages.

Previously __WIN64__ was only defined for 64 bit builds with MSVC, which
resulted in many problems when using 64 bit Cygwin compiler.
Also don't use MSVC-specific __int64 but our wxInt64 for WX{L,W}PARAM and
WXLRESULT definitions in 64 bit builds.

This breaks 64 bit Cygwin builds and is unnecessary for 32 bit ones where
configure already defines wxSIZE_T_IS_UINT correctly.

It's impossible to know what problem this was supposed to fix (it's been there
since the Dawn of Time: r2), but it prevents stddef.h from defining ptrdiff_t,
among others. We need ptrdiff_t.

Unfortunately we can't keep it in wx/compiler.h which is included too early,
before UNICODE macro is defined, and we can't define it before including
wx/setup.h which itself must be included after wx/compiler.h.
So move it to wx/msw/gccpriv.h which is not a great solution, as the best
would be to get rid of this gcc-specific file completely, but at least should
make everything build again and ensure that _mingw.h is included after UNICODE
definition.

This fixes the build with some versions of MinGW which depend on UNICODE being
defined correctly in _mingw.h which is included from wx/compiler.h, so that
before this change the build was broken as inconsistent definitions of UNICODE
were used there and in windows.h included later.

This partially undoes the changes of r73290 by keeping __WXMSW__ defined for
the console mode user applications and only undefining it when building
wxWidgets itself.
This allows the existing code using __WXMSW__ to continue compiling correctly
with wxWidgets 3.0.

This keyword is not expanded by Git which means it's not replaced with the
correct revision value in the releases made using git-based scripts and it's
confusing to have lines with unexpanded "$Id$" in the released files. As
expanding them with Git is not that simple (it could be done with git archive
and export-subst attribute) and there are not many benefits in having them in
the first place, just remove all these lines.
If nothing else, this will make an eventual transition to Git simpler.

Use __WINDOWS__ symbol as the primary symbol indicating Windows instead of
using all of _WIN32, __WIN32__ and __WINDOWS__.
Also automatically define __WINDOWS__ if __WXMSW__ is defined as this port
only can be used under Windows and doing it like this fixes compilation in the
case when the platform ends up being not defined at all, closes#15342.
Finally, don't assume Windows by default but give an error if we can't detect
the platform. This shouldn't happen in practice but seems a safer thing to do
if it ever does happen.

Do keep compiler-specific wxCHECK_MINGW32_VERSION() in wx/compiler.h as it's
needed by wx/cpp.h which includes wx/compiler.h only. But put the rest of the
stuff in gccpriv.h in its old place as including it before wx/setup.h didn't
work correctly and was unnecessary anyhow.
git-svn-id: https://svn.wxwidgets.org/svn/wx/wxWidgets/trunk@74506 c3d73ce0-8a6f-49c7-b76d-6d57e0e08775
This solves the problem with wx/defs.h -> wx/platform.h -> wx/setup.h which
resolves to msvc/wx/setup.h -> wx/version.h -> wx/cpp.h include path which
resulted in __VISUALC__ not being defined in wx/cpp.h.
This problem was not new but went unnoticed for a long time and was only
discovered when wxCHECK_VISUALC_VERSION() started being used in wx/cpp.h too
as now the compiler started warning about wrong #if syntax due to it being
undefined.
Putting the compiler-specific definitions in a separate file allows this file
to be included from wx/cpp.h to ensure that these symbols are always defined
in it and also makes things a little better organized.
