This ensures that the expected events are given even after the widget is
recreated due to a change of some controls on its page (and not because
it's recreated by one of the menu commands in the parent frame).
We also don't need to connect to these events from WidgetsFrame any
longer (and, in fact, doing it would be wrong as we'd connect twice),
which simplifies its code.
Because some pages in the sample contain too much content to fit entirely
in the visible area of the page. Under wxQt port, this is true regardless
of the state of the window (whether it is maximized or not) some content
remains hidden and inaccessible.
Closes#24154.
If a control is contained in a wxStaticBoxSizer or its child sizer,
wxStaticBoxSizer::GetStaticBox() should be used as the control's parent.
However, widgets and dialogs samples did not do that, which resulted in
flooding the message log in widgets sample with warnings about this; in
dialogs sample the warnings were shown in the debug output.
Fix this by always using the static box as the control's parent when the
control is contained (directly or indirectly) in a wxStaticBoxSizer.
Closes#23967.
This is a combination of running clang-tidy with modernize-use-nullptr
check for some ports (GTK, X11, OSX) and manual changes to the ports for
which it couldn't be used easily (MSW, DFB) and also manually updating
the docs.
Also replace NULL with null or nullptr in the comments as this is more
consistent with the use of nullptr in the code and makes it simpler to
grep for the remaining occurrences of NULL itself.
And also use null in the assert messages.
Only a few occurrences of "NULL" are still left in non-C files, mostly
corresponding to unclear comments or string output which it might not be
safe to change.
Add IsUsingLogWindow() that can be used to check if the log messages go
into the listbox instead of being shown in a message box, which was
annoying when starting or quitting the sample.
This is a bit more complicated than the hack previously used in
TextWidgetsPage::OnText(), but more general and can be easily reused for
the focus loss messages, for example.
Don't rely on wx/treebook.h pulling in wx/treectrl.h and wx/textctrl.h,
forward declare or include the headers declaring the classes from these
headers explicitly where needed.
Use GetAttrs().m_defaultFlags everywhere when creating the widgets, it
was done for some but not all of them before, without any apparent
reason.
This should make setting various border styles work (for the widgets
supporting them).
Windows CE doesn't seem to be supported by Microsoft any longer. Last CE
release was in early 2013 and the PocketPC and Smartphone targets supported by
wxWidgets are long gone.
The build files where already removed in an earlier cleanup this commit
removes all files, every #ifdef and all documentation regarding the Windows CE
support.
Closes https://github.com/wxWidgets/wxWidgets/pull/81
Not all widgets are controls and we don't use any of wxControl-specific
methods in the sample, so don't require RecreateWidget() to return a wxControl
when a simple wxWindow suffices.
No real changes.
Ensure that the various attributes (colours, font, border, ...) are preserved
when a widget is recreated or the current page is changed. This is more
convenient and also avoids discrepancies between the state of the menu items
and the actual state of the widget.

This keyword is not expanded by Git which means it's not replaced with the
correct revision value in the releases made using git-based scripts and it's
confusing to have lines with unexpanded "$Id$" in the released files. As
expanding them with Git is not that simple (it could be done with git archive
and export-subst attribute) and there are not many benefits in having them in
the first place, just remove all these lines.
If nothing else, this will make an eventual transition to Git simpler.

Use the same short names as are used by the event table macros for the event
type constants themselves. This makes them much more comfortable to use, e.g.
Bind(wxEVT_BUTTON) compared to Bind(wxEVT_COMMAND_BUTTON_CLICKED).
The old long names are still kept for backwards compatibility and shouldn't be
removed as it doesn't really cost anything to continue providing them, but all
new event types should only use the short versions.

The company behind MGL toolkit (SciTech) doesn't exist since several years and
this port is not used by anybody, so remove it to ease maintenance burden.

Add a function which can be overridden to return an arbitrary number of
widgets instead of having just GetWidget() and GetWidget2(): spin control page
already uses 3 widgets (and defines GetWidget3() which is never called) and we
could have even more in the future. Just use a generic solution which will
always work.
The practical consequence of this is that the "Enable/Disable" menu item now
also enables and disables the wxSpinCtrlDouble in the spin page, see #12045.
