Replace user-specified empty constructors and destructors with the
compiler-generated versions, which has a number of advantages for code
generation, in addition to being more clear.
Closes#22965.
Closes#24058.
Having this line is not useful at all as it doesn't contain any
information and shouldn't be filled in the future as git-shortlog can
provide the information about people who changed the given file more
more reliably than consulting the comments in any case.
Keep the non-blank lines for historical purposes.
This is a combination of running clang-tidy with modernize-use-nullptr
check for some ports (GTK, X11, OSX) and manual changes to the ports for
which it couldn't be used easily (MSW, DFB) and also manually updating
the docs.
Also replace NULL with null or nullptr in the comments as this is more
consistent with the use of nullptr in the code and makes it simpler to
grep for the remaining occurrences of NULL itself.
And also use null in the assert messages.
Only a few occurrences of "NULL" are still left in non-C files, mostly
corresponding to unclear comments or string output which it might not be
safe to change.
This fixes warnings C4244 ('=': conversion from 'int' to 'xxx', possible
loss of data) and C4267 (conversion from 'size_t' to 'int', possible
loss of data) from the MSVC compiler (Version 19.29.30136 for x64) when
compiling in 64-bits.
Note that these warnings are disabled in wx/defs.h by default and so
only happen when saving/restoring the warning settings using the
appropriate pragmas before/after including wx headers.
Closes#22462.
Fix problem with wxUSE_HTML added in 05cce8d89d (Add wxUSE_HTML check to
wxHtmlListBox header, 2020-05-28) not being defined when this header is
the first one to be included.
This can result in a crash if the measuring code is called, possibly
indirectly, from a method of a cell object itself and if that cell is
displaced from the cache while caching the cell created in OnMeasureItem().
Closes#16651.
This keyword is not expanded by Git which means it's not replaced with the
correct revision value in the releases made using git-based scripts and it's
confusing to have lines with unexpanded "$Id$" in the released files. As
expanding them with Git is not that simple (it could be done with git archive
and export-subst attribute) and there are not many benefits in having them in
the first place, just remove all these lines.
If nothing else, this will make an eventual transition to Git simpler.

Replace it with wxWindowWithItems<> template class which takes care of
disambiguating between the two inherited Get/SetClientXXX() versions and use
it as a base class in all clases that previously used the macro.

1. the main function for item insertion is now DoInsertItems() which allows
for much more efficient addition of many new items at once
2. the items client data management is done entirely in wxItemContainer
itself, the derived classes don't have to distinguish between void and
object client data
3. many fixes for sorted controls, in particular implemented wxCB_SORT support
in wxGTK combobox
